OneOdio Studio Max 2 review: Ultra-low latency headphones for tech enthusiasts

The OneOdio Studio Max 2 are closed-back, over-ear wireless headphones. Designed to bridge the gap between studio monitors and gaming headsets, they target developers, gamers, and gadget enthusiasts who need low latency and flexible connectivity. 

They combine multiple wireless and wired modes, removing the audio delay common in standard Bluetooth headsets. The inclusion of a dedicated 2.4GHz transmitter makes them a practical tool for video editing, coding sessions, and fast-paced gaming. 

Design and build quality

The headset features a matte black plastic body with a numbered metal headband for precise size adjustments. The exterior earcups display a vinyl record groove pattern, referencing the brand’s DJ hardware roots. The earcups rotate 180 degrees and fold inward, making it easy to store them or monitor audio with a single ear. 

For comfort, OneOdio uses memory foam earpads wrapped in protein leather. The clamping force keeps the headset securely in place. The headphones weigh enough that the headband padding can create a localized pressure point on the crown of the head after two hours of continuous wear, requiring occasional readjustment. Because of the large over-ear footprint, they take up considerable space on a desk. Connectivity and features

The Studio Max 2 offers four connection methods. It supports Bluetooth 6.0 with multipoint pairing, letting you connect a smartphone and a laptop simultaneously. The headphones carry no IP rating for water or dust resistance so I suggest you don’t use it in locations where it can be exposed to water splashes. The built-in microphone disables when connected via the 2.4GHz transmitter or audio cables, limiting voice chat strictly to Bluetooth mode.

Audio performance and call quality

The headphones use 45mm High-Flux drivers. The default “Music” EQ profile emphasizes bass frequencies while recessing the midrange, resulting in a somewhat muddy sound. Applying the “Monitoring” preset or the custom DJ KSHMR profile via the mobile app flattens the frequency response. This adjustment tightens the low-end frequencies and improves midrange clarity, making it easier to isolate individual instruments or hear distinct directional audio cues in video games.

The device lacks Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and transparency modes. Therefore, noise reduction depends entirely on the passive isolation provided by the memory foam earpads. The earcups block standard room noise and keyboard typing, though loud environments like coffee shops will still bleed through. 

During Bluetooth calls, the internal microphone captures clear voice audio suitable for standard phone conversations and video meetings. 

Battery life and pricing

The Studio Max 2 offers exceptional battery performance. A single charge provides up to 120 hours of continuous playback over Bluetooth. Using the 2.4GHz transmitter reduces the total runtime to 50 hours. The headset charges via a USB-C port, and a five-minute fast charge restores nine hours of listening time.
